David Walsh

The Sunday Times

novinar / Journalist

The sports journalist for the British newspaper Sunday Times has begun his journalistic career as a reporter at the Leitrim Observer, where he became an editor at the age of 25. He also wrote for the Irish Press, the Sunday Tribune and Sunday Independent, but he is best known for his investigative work – revealing doping of the American cyclist Lance Armstrong.

The investigative story began in 1999. After 13 years Armstrong finally admitted the use of performance-enhancing drugs in all of his seven Tour de France victories. David Walsh, a two time UK winner of sportswriter of the year, also became Journalist of the year in 2012 for the important discovery, and he received Barclay’s Life-Achievement Award a year later.
